Tins with fins. The mortar version (right) was in use in Ireland by the early 70’s. The projected grenade version (or something like it) came along in the late 80’s and saw use through the 90’s in almost a dozen actions. Similar improvised weapons have subsequently been used in conflicts elsewhere.
